“Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life.”
(Rumi)
The most important lesson I have learned today is gratitude for what we have because so much can change so quickly and everything in sight can be lost in the flash of a blink. Life is fragile. That’s what emergency physicians see and deal with daily. The trauma of a single event can wipe the happiness away from people’s lives so quickly. While we enjoy what has been bestowed upon us, we must appreciate it all as well, and be thankful, always for what we have. My thoughts go out to the family of the young girl who died in a YMCA swimming pool today, and all those whose lives were affected by tragedy today. For those who continue to live and enjoy as though nothing has touched you, give thanks for what you have; because tomorrow may be the day when the gods decide to test you with a tragedy or an occurrence that may be catastrophic.
