When in Turkiye, I always love to simply stay in Istanbul, probably my favourite city globally that has vibes of Europe and Asia, Mongols and Seljuks, Ottomans and Syrians, Romans and Persians, Christianity and Islam, orthodoxy and modernism all in one conglomeration and syncretism. From the bazaars, the sunrises on the Bosphorus, the spice markets, the food stall, the vestiges of the Greeks and Romans, the Ottoman cemeteries and the numbers of visitors, it is a place to just watch, walk around and take in. Turkish coffee and tea, and various delights are found easily.
For me three things , food, history and photography are important , and all three resonate in Istanbul well.
